Where is Seminyak – Bali

Bali is a small island of approximately 5,800 km sq located among the Indonesian archipelago of islands. Distance from Australia is approximately 4,600 km and flights to the island depart from most major international airports.

Bali itself is divided into areas that are known as Regency’s , this is similar, metaphorically, to the states in Australia or America. Each Regency is further split into districts and again into sub-districts/villages. Each village will have its own community groups.

Seminyak is actually a sub-district of Kuta, many regard it as its own unofficial district.

The village is on the West Coast of Southern Bali north of Kuta and Legian.

Depending on the day time and traffic it takes around 45 minutes to 2 hours to get to Seminyak, see our guide here on best way to travel from the international airport to Seminyak.

What is the best time to visit Seminyak?

Seminyak is a popular destination in Bali. It is a beach town that offers a variety of activities, restaurants, and nightlife. However, it can get crowded, so it is important to plan ahead to avoid these crowds. There are many things to do in Seminyak, so you will want to find the best time to visit. The best time to visit is from the months of June to September. This is when the weather is the most pleasant and the water temperature is perfect. When we talk about Bali and its seasons they have less import, this is a tropical island with year round good weather. The main consideration is if the season is a dry season or wet season. Dry season is April to October and wet season November to March. The dry season is the perfect time to visit Seminyak because the city is less crowded, and there are no wet season crowds to deal with. Hopefully, the weather is sunny and warm because that is when you’ll really want to explore the city. We recommend the dry season as during this time when the weather is most enjoyable and the crowds are considerably less.

As we mentioned, Seminyak is only a short distance from the airport, so you’ll have no trouble reaching the city. The prices are lower, too, because the village is less busy. However, it is always a good idea to check the weather before you go. If you’re looking for a sample of Bali tropical paradise, then Seminyak is the perfect place.

What is the accommodation like in Seminyak?

Seminyak is a small town on the west coast of Bali. This town is full of great accommodation, restaurants, shops, and nightlife. However, the accommodation in Seminyak are great, so it’s easy to see that this is a place to stay. You will find great villas, luxurious hotels, hostels, and more. The prices for these types of accommodation are not that bad either. Accommodation ranges from the very cheap to the enromously expensive accommodation. Furthermore, the accommodation options are all easily accessible by car, scooter, motorbike, and taxi.

We have had stays in all types of accomodation in Seminyak but have some favourites that we would stay at depending on our needs. Mostly we stay in less expensive accomodation in order to maximize our time away and typically we spend little time in the resort and maximize our time seeing the country.

How to get around in Seminyak

Seminyak is a village in Bali, but it’s packed with things to do. There is a reason why it’s considered a tourist hotspot. It’s just a short distance from the airport, and businesses are close by. It’s also a great place to stop for a break on your vacation.

The first thing you should do when you get to Seminyak is figure out how to get around. There are plenty of ways to get around, but the most common is by walking. Another option is a taxi, the Bluebird brand is most common and have meters.Uber is Not an option, Grab is available but cannot operate in all areas.

If you want a more affordable option, you can rent a scooter or motorcycle.  If you are planning on renting a scooter, it is best to do a little research and find out what the best scooter rental shop is in your area. This can be a little tricky, as there are many scooter rental shops in Seminyak. Make sure you have proper insurance and also a license before you can ride. We recommend if you are not experienced in riding motorbike and scooters dont try and learn in Bali. The roads are busy and difficult to navigate you are best to only take this option if you have experience riding.

Renting a bicycle to get around is also an option but keep in mind the roads are very busy.

It is a wise idea to get a local sim card in Seminyak, make use of the unlimited data that is being offered by different carriers.

Bluebird Taxi travelling on the street of Bali. Bluebird taxis have the best reputation.

What to eat in Seminyak?

When planning a trip to Seminyak, you might want to consider what to eat while you’re there. From breakfast to dinner, you can get a taste of everything Seminyak has to offer. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic dishes, don’t worry – there are plenty of options to choose from. You’ll find everything from Indonesian classics to international dishes when you’re in Seminyak. One of the best things to eat in Seminyak is Satay – it’s a Bali specialty. You’ll find the perfect Satay to eat at many of the restaurants lining the street

The restaurant scene in Seminyak is a little bit like the restaurant scene in any western country. It’s diverse and there are plenty of choices. In fact, there are so many choices in Seminyak that you may find it hard to decide where to eat.

If you’re looking for the perfect snack, you can’t go wrong with a banana fritter. It’s a delicious and light snack that is available at any of the food stalls throughout the city. Another must-eat in Seminyak is a Balinese Waffle. Your first bite will have you hooked from the first bite. If you’re looking for a heartier meal, you can’t go wrong with grilled fish.  It’s another Bali favorite and will be sure to please your taste buds.

Some of our favorite restaurants are:

Boy N Cow

Before I became a vegetarian this was one my my favorite places to grab a steak, complete with some complimentary sides. The beef is aged to perfection and cooked just how you want it to be. One of the things that I often find in Asian countries is that they don’t really quite grasp how to do a great steak. This restaurant though puts that comment well and truly in the locker

Located at the top of eat street its definitely worth a visit. They do of course have other specialties on the menu with chicken and fish that will also melt in your mouth. The place has a great vibe and its very well done. Grab a cocktail and let us know what you think.

You can read a great review here for the restaurant – as pretty close to my experience as it gets.

Sarong

Sarong is a wonderful place to get some Asian inspired cuisine. Again it is a very stylish restaurant and is great for a romantic evening out or soaking up a wonderful atmosphere. The garden area is wonderful to sit and enjoy a drink and then dinner. Like all good restaurants its quality over quantity, but boy it is delicious. The owners also have another restaurant which is high up in our choices – Mamasan – different design but still exquisite food. Some of the dishes can be a little spicy if you are not familiar with those types of Asian fare.

Sarong is located here, easy for yuo to find.

Woulds recommend getting your driver to drop you off and come pick you up later, much easier than trying to get the cab sorted out. We can help you with a driver here if you like. Take time to stroll around afterwards and let your dinner settle.

Da Maria

Italian, as if you had not already guessed that. We are lovers of all types of cuisine and i love to buy Italian food in Ital, but this food rates highly for Italian food not mad at home. Grab a pizza and order some of the wine from the list and your in for a great night with tasty food. Located  here its not too far to get back to your hotel.

You can grab some more details of Da Maria here.
